We learn that Generative AI- produces convincing images and texts. Peter Hamlyn neurosurgeon advises AI can't replicate the brain's quintillion neurones but can transform treatment of neurological cases leading doctors through diagnosis quickly, reducing life limiting disabilities. Hamlyn defines AI as our intelligence fed into an electrical circuits. To hear more listen to Private Passions here.

Do we buy something unique when buying original work? Something the artist has touched, communicating with us. When showing my work, I feel I am allowing someone to look inside my brain.

We must learn about AI, not avoid it. Falmouth University's new degree course “AI in Creative Practice” trains artists to harness AI. More information here.

AI can curate exhibition spaces. Instagram is continuous form algorithmic curation feeding us imagery. Herman observed AI curation produced more commercial, less meaningful exhibitions from the same material than human curators. Find out more here.

Pollinator Pathmaker Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg.

Ginsberg collaborated with AI scientists and horticulturalists to combine painting and garden planning to encourage pollinators. Designing gardens to support the most species.

AI cannot recreate the beauty of a handmade book. Open studios do not have robot artists. The joy of seeing an artist working surrounded by unique tools cannot be replaced by AI. I recently visited the 2026 Spring Fling Open Studios.

Artists fear being replaced. AI is tool and artist. We must excel where AI cannot.

Using AI to design logos might save money but may not be memorable. It can write adequate artist's statements or start research. We should concentrate on AI applications to save lives and improve efficiency. Photography didn't obliterate painting. We must ride the storm confidently. Positive applications exist but should not be used indiscriminately.
